Today we took a drive to Hood River and the "
Fruit Loop". This is an area that has all kinds of fruit farms and they have published a map with all the farms and their hours etc. It is quite fun and there are other interesting things such as Llama and Alpaca Farms as well. We had a destination in mind when we went today so drove to the far end of the loop and
Kiyokawa Family Orchard and Fruit Stand. They sell produce and fruit at our local farmers market so we were interested to see their operation. Although we could have picked our apples out of the many large bins around the store area we opted for the tree picking experience instead. Because of our cold, wet spring the apples are late this year so there were only a few varieties that were ready for u-pick. They grow over 40 varieties of apples on their 107 acres! The kids had fun picking the apples and then went on a hay ride in the wagon. While they were out on the hay ride they got to pick an apple and eat it on the ride.
After the apple orchard we were going to go check out the
Alpaca Farm but the kids fell asleep before we got to far down the road.
We drove home over the mountain and stopped for dinner on our way home. All in all it was a fun day.

Ruth,
Yuo guys are such awesome parents! What a blast your kids are having. I am tired just reading all you manage to do :)!!
What great pictures and awesome memories. The kids look adorable together.
Yes, you are good parents! You have taken your kids to many different things and exposed them to some great adventures!
Our fruit trees are way behind, it's still in the 80's here in Cincinnati! I cannot wait for cooler fall weather!! We had our FCC Moon Festival at our local farm and the pumpkins were not even close to being ready to pick! The kids were really sad!
But...our winters are shorter!!!
How cute!!! They are so adorable, Ruth!! Looks like they had a fun time, too!!
:)
