Fun Fourth!
We had a fun 4th of July at our house! We started early with a walk around the neighborhood before it got to hot. We came back and started getting ready for the events later in the day. The first order of business was to get the canopies up to shade us for dinner later on. Anna tried to help with this task but before long we knew it was nap time and the canopies would go up much more effeciently without our assistant! That done, we set up the pools and added water.
Finally around 2:30 the first wave of cousins arrived. It did not take them long to hit the water as the temperature was approaching 90. Most of the afternoon was spent in the water.
Dinner was Low Country Boil - a treat we learned about while living in Texas with our Savannah, Georgia born pastor's wife! Potatoes, sausage, corn on the cob and shrimp all cooked in one large pot (we did three pots of it!) After it is cooked you just pour it out on the table and help yourselves! It was a yummy, relatively easy cooking and clean up dinner! I think everyone enjoyed it!
After dinner we had dessert and a little birthday party for Annalynn and her cousin Grace who turned 16 on the 3rd. All of my family will be out of town this weekend for her birthday party so we celebrated early with them. She enjoyed opening her gifts and playing with them!
After the gifts it was almost dark enough to start fireworks. We all moved to the front yard and got set up for the show. We had a fun time and Annalynn loved the fireworks! By this time it was long past someones bedtime - so off to bed and a good nights sleep!
